主讲人简介:

Carol Robinson教授是英国皇家学会院士、美国国家科学院外籍院士,现任牛津大学化学系Dr Lee讲席教授及Kavli Institute for NanoScience Discovery研究所主任。她长期致力于质谱技术的创新研究,特别是在非变性质谱(native mass spectrometry)领域做出了奠基性贡献。

Robinson教授率先开发并应用非变性质谱技术,系统研究蛋白质复合物的动态结构、相互作用及调控机制。近年来,她的团队利用该技术在膜蛋白复合物的结构解析与内源性功能配体发现方面取得了一系列开创性成果,为理解脂质与药物分子对膜蛋白受体功能的调控机制提供了新视角。

她曾荣获英国皇家学会Royal Medal、国际蛋白质学会Stein & Moore Award、诺和诺德基金会Novozymes Prize以及美国化学会Field & Franklin Award等国际奖项。Robinson教授不仅是牛津大学和剑桥大学历史上首位女性化学教授,也是英国皇家化学学会前任主席。她于2016年创立了以非变性质谱为核心技术的生物技术公司OMass Therapeutics,并于2024年获得欧洲专利局European Inventor Award。

Brief Introduction of Professor Dame Carol Robinson

Professor Dame Carol Robinson, fellow of the Royal Society and foreign member of the US National Academy of Sciences, holds the chair of Dr Lee’s Professor of Chemistry at the University of Oxford and the first Director of the Kavli Institute for NanoScience Discovery.

Professor Robinson has devoted her career to the innovation of mass spectrometry (MS) technologies and their applications in biomedical research. She is a pioneer of native MS and has made groundbreaking contributions to understanding the structure, dynamics, and regulation of protein complexes. Her team has recently applied native MS to analyse endogenous membrane protein assemblies and to systematically elucidate how lipids and drugs modulate their functions.

In recognition of her outstanding scientific achievements, Professor Robinson has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Royal Medal of the Royal Society, the Stein & Moore Award from the Protein Society, the Novozymes Prize from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, and the Field & Franklin Award from the American Chemical Society.

Professor Robinson is the first female chemistry professor in the history of both the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge, and a former President of the Royal Society of Chemistry. In 2016, she founded OMass Therapeutics, the first biotech company to specialize in native MS–based drug discovery, and in 2024, she was honored with the European Inventor Award by the European Patent Office.
