陈关荣教授,欧洲科学院院士、发展中国家科学院院士,香港城市大学电子工程系讲座教授、博士生导师。陈关荣教授于1981年获广州中山大学计算数学硕士学位,1987年获美国德州农工大学应用数学博士学位,其后在美国莱斯和休斯顿大学任教。自2000年起,他接受香港城市大学讲座教授职位工作至今。陈关荣教授于1997年被选为IEEE Fellow;2008年、2012年和2016年分别获得国家自然科学二等奖;2010年斩获何梁何利基金科学与技术进步奖,2011年获俄罗斯圣彼得堡国立大学授予荣誉博士学位和俄罗斯欧拉基金会颁发欧拉金质奖章;2014年获法国诺曼底大学授予荣誉博士学位并当选为欧洲科学院院士;2015年当选为欧洲工程院院士与发展中国家科学院院士。
陈关荣教授建立与发展了一套完备严格且简单有效的混沌反控制基本理论与实用方法,首次给出了离散系统(被称为Chen-Lai系统)及无穷维系统反馈混沌化的基本理论判据与算法;发现了Lorenz系统的对偶系统(被称为“Chen”系统)及它们之间的临界混沌系统,提出了一个单参数的混沌统一系统,广义Lorenz系统及其标准型,以及双曲型的广义Lorenz系统及其标准型,并建立了整个广义Lorenz系统族的理论框架;与合作者一起发现并证明了无尺度网络对随机攻击的鲁棒性和对恶意攻击的脆弱性,提出牵制控制复杂网络的新思想并发展了相应算法,应用数学图论研究和界定复杂网络的同步能力和同步区域并获得解析性结果,提出了互联网的局域网模型和多重局域网模型。
Brief Introduction of Professor CHEN Guanrong
Professor Guanrong Chen is a Member of the European Academy of Sciences, a Member of the European Academy of Engineering, and fellow of the World Academy of Sciences. He currently serves as Chair Professor and Doctoral Supervisor in the Department of Electronic Engineering at the City University of Hong Kong. Professor Chen obtained his Master’s degree in Computational Mathematics from Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou in 1981 and his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Texas A&M University, USA, in 1987. He subsequently taught at Rice University and the University of Houston in the United States. Since 2000, he has held the position of Chair Professor at the City University of Hong Kong. Professor Chen was elected as an IEEE Fellow in 1997. He received the Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award in 2008, 2012, and 2016, the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Science and Technology Award in 2010, an honorary doctorate from Saint Petersburg State University in Russia and the Euler Gold Medal from the Euler Foundation of Russia in 2011, an honorary doctorate from the University of Normandy in France and election as a Member of the European Academy of Sciences in 2014, and election as a Member of the European Academy of Engineering and a fellow of the World Academy of Sciences in 2015.
Professor Chen has established and developed a rigorous yet practical theoretical framework for chaos anticontrol. He first proposed fundamental criteria and algorithms for feedback-induced chaos in discrete systems (known as the Chen-Lai system) and infinite-dimensional systems. He discovered the dual system of the Lorenz system (referred to as the "Chen system") and the critical chaotic systems between them. He introduced a single-parameter unified chaotic system, generalized Lorenz systems and their canonical forms, hyperbolic-type generalized Lorenz systems and their canonical forms, and established the theoretical framework for the entire family of generalized Lorenz systems. Collaborating with peers, he proved the robustness of scale-free networks against random attacks and their vulnerability to targeted attacks, proposed novel ideas and algorithms for pinning control of complex networks, applied mathematical graph theory to characterize the synchronization capability and synchronization regions of complex networks with analytical results, and developed the Local Area Network (LAN) and Multi-LAN models for the internet.
