WHU Philosophy Fall Seminar Series
Thursday 1 November 2018
The lecture is given in French (with French to Chinese interpreter)
The 1900s marked a true conceptual revolution, thanks largely to the Freudian discovery of infantile sexuality. The child is then conceived only as a savage to civilize or as a virgin wax on which it is necessary to print the behaviors required by society. He becomes a complex being, torn by conflicts between his polymorphous desires and his structuring identifications. Its symptoms, if it presents them, are not only the expression of a lesion or a functional deficit; they are also the attempt to communicate an anxiety or a psychic pain as well as a mode of adaptation or a defense mechanism.
